A Simply Made Life app

See how it fits before you move a thing.

Scan a room, add your own things at true size, and see them arranged before you buy, lift or commit.

Coming soon to iPhone and iPad. Android to follow.

Placed Space on iPhone: a bedroom in plan view, 11 feet 9¾ inches by 13 feet 9¼ inches, with a queen bed between two nightstands, a rug under the bed, a desk under the window with its chair, a dresser, a floor lamp, the door's swing, Layouts and Arrange buttons, and the floor area, ceiling height, volume and perimeter along the bottom.

How it works

From an empty room to a placed one.

Four steps, done on the device in your hand, in the room you are standing in.

  1. Scan the room

Stand in the room and pan slowly. An empty 3D copy of the room appears, with matching walls, trim, floor and light.

  2. Save the space

Give the space a name and keep it. Its measurements are there as soon as you save.

  3. Add your things

Photograph your things, or paste a link from a store, and enter their exact size. They appear in the room at true size.

  4. See it placed

Drag things into ready-made spots that keep doors and windows clear, or pick a goal and let the app arrange them. Refine the result and save variations.

In the app

A room you can measure, furnish and rearrange.

The bedroom in 3D: a bed with a headboard and pillows between two nightstands, a rug, a desk on legs under the window with a chair pulled up to it, a dresser, and a floor lamp, all at their true size and color.
The room in 3D. Walls, windows, doors, floor and furniture at their real sizes. Drag to turn it, pinch to zoom.
The Arrange screen: four goals, Make it fit, Simplicity, Minimalist and Home staging, with Simplicity chosen, and the first option drawn as a plan, the nightstands beside the bed and the chair at the desk.
Arrange for a goal. Pick Simplicity, Minimalist, Home staging or Make it fit and get three options. Nightstands go beside the bed, the chair to the desk, and every door stays reachable. Lock anything you want kept in place.
The bedroom plan while a desk is dragged: small markers with arrows show the spots where the desk fits and which way it would face, and the desk is outlined where it would snap into a corner.
Drag to place. Markers show every spot an item fits and which way it would face. Spots never block a door, and tall pieces stay out of windows.
A dresser's details: the dresser drawn at true size beside a person 5 feet 9 inches tall, and its width, depth and height in feet and inches.
Exact sizes. Every item is shown beside a person at true scale, so a mistyped size stands out before it reaches the room.

Features

Your room, your things, at their real size.

There is no blank grid and no catalog. Every project starts from the room you have and the things you own or are thinking of buying.

The room

Captured as it is, then cleared so you can start fresh.

Room capture

  • Scan with a slow pan, using the LiDAR sensor in your iPhone or iPad.
  • Accurate walls, doors and windows.
  • An empty room, even if the real one is furnished.
  • Wall colors, trim, floor material and lighting matched as closely as possible. You can adjust any of them by hand.

Measurements

  • Wall lengths and ceiling height.
  • Floor area, in square feet or square meters.
  • Room volume.
  • Wall area, for paint estimates.
  • Any measurement can be corrected by hand.

Your things

Not a storefront. The pieces in the room are yours.

Your own things

Each item comes from a photo plus its exact dimensions. Take the photo, choose one from your library, or paste a link to the product page and pick from its photos and listed sizes. So it is your real furniture, or the specific piece you are considering, not a stand-in from a catalog.

Items belong to the room you add them to. Copy them into another room to try them there.

Placement

Drag an item and the spots where it fits light up: against a wall, in a corner, under a window. None of them block a door. Let go near one and it snaps there, facing the right way. Drop it anywhere else and the app warns you when it collides or blocks a door.

Everything is always true to scale.

Arranging

Do it by hand, ask for options, or both.

Automatic arrangement

Choose a goal and get several arrangements that respect doors, walkways and windows.

  • Simplicity
  • Minimalist
  • Make it fit
  • Home staging

AI designer Optional subscription

Describe a goal in your own words. Each arrangement comes with a reason, and with advice on what to leave out.

The designer can also generate 3D models of your items from your photos.

Variations

Save, name, duplicate and compare layouts for the same room.

Views

Orbit the room in 3D, look straight down at the plan, or walk through at eye level.

One room, three variations. Nothing has been lifted yet.

Yours to keep

Your rooms are your home. They are treated that way.

Backup and sync

Your spaces, items and layouts are backed up and kept in sync across your devices, through iCloud or a SeriousPass account.

Works offline

Scanning, measuring, placing and automatic arrangement all work without a connection. Only the AI designer needs one.

Privacy

  • Room scans stay on your device unless you turn on sync.
  • No ads.
  • No account required.

The details are in the privacy policy.

Who it's for

For anyone deciding what belongs in a room.

Moving or furnishing

A new home, a new room, or one large purchase you are not sure about. See whether it fits, and how the room works around it, before it arrives.

Rearranging what you own

The furniture is fine; the room is not working. Try a few layouts on screen and move things once, when you know where they are going.

Staging and design

Home stagers and designers can scan a client's room and work up a concept on site, while everyone is still standing in it.

Requirements

Good to know before you start.

For how each part of the app works, see Help.

What do I need to scan a room?
An iPhone or iPad with a LiDAR sensor: iPhone 12 Pro or a later Pro model, or iPad Pro (2020) or later. The app needs iOS or iPadOS 26 or later.
What if my device has no LiDAR?
It cannot scan, but it can open, furnish and arrange rooms that were scanned on another device.
How accurate are the measurements?
They are estimates, good for planning. Confirm them with a tape measure before you buy or build anything.
Is there an Android version?
Android is planned, after the iPhone and iPad release.
Placed Space app icon: a room in plan view with one clay-colored item placed in it.

Placed Space is on its way.

It will come to iPhone and iPad first, free to download, with Android to follow.
