1. The short version
A room scan is a picture of the inside of your home. Placed Space is designed around that fact.
- You can use the app without creating an account.
- Your room scans, measurements, item photos and layouts are stored on your device.
- Backup and sync are optional. If you use them, your data goes either to your own iCloud account or, if you sign in, to your SeriousPass account.
- The AI designer and generated 3D models are optional. Only when you use them is a limited set of information sent to our server and to a provider, as described below.
- The app contains no advertising and no third-party advertising or analytics software. We do not sell your personal information.

2. Who we are
Placed Space is a product of SeriousPixel, LLC ("SeriousPixel", "we", "us"), a Tennessee limited liability company. Simply Made Life is a trade name (a DBA) of SeriousPixel, LLC. SeriousPixel, LLC operates the Placed Space app, this website, and SeriousPass, which is our own account service.

3. No account required
No account is required to use the app. You can scan rooms, add items, arrange them and make purchases without signing in to anything of ours. Signing in to a SeriousPass account is optional and is described in section 6.
4. What is stored on your device
The app stores the following on your device:
- Room scans: the geometry of the room and the camera frames captured during a scan.
- Measurements of your rooms.
- Items: the photos you take or choose of your things, the dimensions you enter for them, and, for an item added from a product link, that link.
- Layouts: the arrangements you make and save.
Camera and LiDAR
The camera and the LiDAR sensor are used only to scan rooms and to photograph items. That processing happens on your device.
Photos you choose
When you add an item from your photo library, the system photo picker gives the app only the photo you choose. The app does not see the rest of your library.
Product links
When you paste a link to a product page, the app opens that page on your device to read the product's name, photos and listed sizes, and downloads the photos so you can choose one. This is an ordinary visit to the store's website, the same as opening the link in a browser, and is subject to that website's own privacy policy. The link and the page are not sent to us.
5. Backup and sync
Backup and sync are optional. They keep a copy of your spaces, items and layouts and make them available on your other devices. Where that copy is kept depends on whether you are signed in to SeriousPass.
If you are not signed in to SeriousPass
Your data syncs through your own iCloud account. It is kept in Apple's private database for your account, which SeriousPixel cannot read.
If you are signed in to SeriousPass
Your spaces, items and layouts are stored on SeriousPass cloud storage. That storage is operated by SeriousPixel with a cloud hosting provider.
What is never synced
The raw camera frames captured during a scan are never synced. They stay on the device that made the scan.
6. SeriousPass account
SeriousPass is SeriousPixel's own account service. Using it is optional. If you create a SeriousPass account, we hold:
- your email address;
- your display name;
- your sign-in credentials; and
- records of your licenses and purchases.
7. Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, depending on the store you use. SeriousPixel receives transaction identifiers and the status of your purchase. We never receive your card details.
If you are signed in to SeriousPass, your purchases are recorded on your SeriousPass account.
8. AI designer
The AI designer is part of an optional subscription. When you use it, the following is sent to SeriousPixel's server and to an AI service provider so that arrangements can be produced:
- the room's geometry and measurements;
- the names, categories and dimensions of your items; and
- the goal text you write.
Your photos and your location are not sent.
We keep a count of your requests so that the monthly allowance can be applied.
9. Generated 3D models
Generating a 3D model of an item is optional. When you ask for one, the cut-out photo of that item is sent to SeriousPixel's server and to a third-party 3D model generation provider so that the model can be made.
10. Advertising and analytics
The app contains no advertising. It contains no third-party advertising software development kits (SDKs) and no third-party analytics SDKs.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
Apple and Google may provide us with aggregated diagnostics if you have opted in to sharing them on your device.
11. This website
This website is a set of static pages. It uses no cookies and no analytics. It has no forms, and it makes no requests to third parties when you load it.
Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, which can include your IP address, your browser, and the pages you requested.
12. Service providers
We use a small number of service providers. Each one is used only for the purpose listed here.
- Apple: purchases on the App Store, iCloud sync through your own iCloud account, and aggregated diagnostics if you have opted in.
- Google: purchases on Google Play, and aggregated diagnostics if you have opted in.
- A cloud hosting provider: hosting SeriousPass cloud storage and our servers.
- An AI service provider: producing arrangements when you use the AI designer.
- A 3D model generation provider: producing a 3D model when you ask for one.
13. Retention and deletion
- On your device: data stays until you delete it in the app or remove the app.
- In iCloud: data is in your own iCloud account, and you manage it in your iCloud settings.
- In SeriousPass: you can delete your SeriousPass account, and the data stored with it, from the SeriousPass account page.
- AI designer and 3D model requests: these are processed and not kept beyond what is needed to return the result to you and to count your usage.
14. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account or data has been compromised, contact us at [email protected].
15. Children
Placed Space is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
16. Your rights and choices
Most of your data is on your own device or in your own iCloud account, where you control it directly. For information that we hold, you can ask us to:
- give you access to it;
- correct it; or
- delete it.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under laws such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You will not be treated differently for exercising any of them.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
You also have choices inside the app: you can use it without an account, leave backup and sync turned off, and choose not to use the AI designer or generated 3D models.
17. International processing
SeriousPixel is based in the United States, and the information we hold is processed in the United States. If you use the app from another country, the information described in this policy that leaves your device will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country.
18. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. When we do, we will post the new version on this page and change the effective date at the top.
